觀音菩薩駐於補陀落伽山，此時善財童子南參至觀音道場，雙手合十，恭敬請法，菩薩慈悲為其宣說大悲法門。觀音趺坐於岩石上與一旁立於岩石上的童子相呼應。在畫面使用淺絳山水技法，呈現出寧靜深遠的視覺感受，以細筆墨色勾勒出白衣觀音潔淨純美形象，並運用不同的筆墨皴法呈現山石林木紋理，使空間層次豐富，充滿虛實之節奏變化。
　　
Avalokiteśvara is at the Mount Potalaka, where Sudhanakumâra (Child of Wealth) is heading south to the Avalokiteśvara Bodhimaṇḍa, hands together, respectfully asking for enlightenment, and Avalokiteśvara is kindly explaining the ways to understand Mahā Karuna Dhāranī. Avalokiteśvara is in the lotus position on the rocks, in response to Sudhanakumâra who is standing to the side on the rocks. The image uses a minor variation of the blue-green landscape technique, presenting a visual experience that is serene and deep in distance. The fine ink strokes outline the pure, untainted beauty of Avalokiteśvara, while different paint strokes and folding techniques are used to present textures of the rocks and trees in the landscape, enriching the space and layering, filling them with changes of rhythm that varies between the real and unreal.
